If you do receive a check, it won't be until 4-6 weeks after the semester begins so you'll have to pay up until then. Most places require that you sign a 10-month (for student sometimes) or 1 year lease. If you break the lease because you cannot afford it, they can sue you for the amount until the lease is up. Plus, you're going to be paying your loans back with interest. If you want to live in an apartment... get a job so you can pay the bills.
